Overview
...

GimKit introduces engaging gameplay features to classroom review sessions. Students join the game by logging in with a unique code, creating a seamless and inclusive experience. During gameplay, they earn in-game resources that can be strategically used to enhance their progress. The platform's real-time tracking not only allows teachers to provide immediate feedback but also fosters healthy competition and motivation as students can see their progress compared to their peers. With customizable quizzes and interactive elements, GimKit transforms traditional review into a lively and effective learning experience, encouraging participation and reinforcing key concepts in the classroom.

Ways I've Used It
...

I implemented Gimkit as a review game for different roles in the ecosystem, such as producers, consumers, decomposers, and scavengers. Because the questions all had the same optional answers, students were able to quickly answer questions to gain “snowballs” to hit their friends with.

Pros
...

  • Lots of customization options to alter the length of the game.
  • The most “gamified” review game in my opinion.
  • Custom questions that teachers can make.
  • Robust free version still allows the featured game modes to be played.

Cons
...

  • The in game tutorial is lacking, some students may get confused about how to play.
  • Typically longer game times, expect this to take a class period.
